About Paradigm Winery

Paradigm Winery is a family-owned, fifty-acre estate in the southwestern corner of Oakville, Napa Valley, founded by Ren and Marilyn Harris. The Harrises purchased the property in 1976; what was originally planted to Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Noir, and White Riesling was steadily replanted to the Bordeaux varieties for which Oakville is now world-renowned — Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot — alongside Zinfandel, an unusually rare choice for the appellation. The estate is fully self-contained: fifty acres of vineyard, the winery, two homes, a warehouse, a barn, and an acre of olive trees on four contiguous parcels.

All Paradigm wines are estate-grown and estate-produced. The flagship Cabernet Sauvignon is aged twenty months in French oak and held an additional twenty months before release — a long-cellaring approach that has earned Paradigm a quiet reputation as one of the better values in premium Oakville Cabernet. The Harrises have been deeply woven into the fabric of Napa Valley since the late 1960s: they helped pass the 1968 Napa Valley Agriculture Preserve, co-founded the Napa Valley Grape Growers in 1975, and Ren founded the California Growers Foundation in 1972 to bring affordable healthcare to farm workers. In 2002, Paradigm became an inaugural member of 1% for the Planet, donating one percent of revenue to environmental nonprofits.
